The information about the individual’s revealed 
rank in income distribution is more important in 
identifying his/her satisfaction than the relative 
wage level.  A positive correlation of 0.26  was 
found  between  the  individual’s  rank  in  a 
reference  group  and  his/her  subjective  well-
being.
